This is a big win for us and keeps us rolling with great confidence."
In the top of the fifth inning, it looked like Hewitt-Trussville was going to get back in the game. With hits by Corey Goguts and Chaney Peters the Huskies had two on and no outs, but the Bucs defense turned a double play along with a fly out to right field that ended the Huskies threat. "Huge, momentum could have gone their way so that was big on getting that double play," said Bucs head coach Trey Matlock. "Good team we played in Hewitt. We made some big adjustments at the plate that gave us the big inning. We had great competition this past weekend and Hewitt always makes us better."
The Huskies scored on a rundown in the sixth inning and catcher Makalla Hope scored to make it 5-2 Hoover. Zaylen Tucker pitched pretty well for the Huskies only giving up the one inning where the Bucs scored four runs. She pitched six innings for Hewitt-Trussville in the game.
