Central Board Hears Two Appeals in Special Called Meeting
MONTGOMERY – Wednesday’s special called meeting of the Central Board heard time sensitive appeals from two member schools seeking a final clarification. The board listened to an appeal from Pell City High School and overturned an earlier ruling of restrictive probation against the football team. This enables the 2026 version of the Panthers to be eligible for the playoffs. The football program’s regular probation runs through the 2027-2028 academic year.
The Central Board also heard an appeal from Randolph School in Huntsville and upheld the executive director’s earlier ruling from that decision. AHSAA Executive Director Heath Harmon said, “On behalf of the Alabama High School Athletic Association, I want to thank Pell City High School and Randolph School for their presentations to the AHSAA’s Central Board and for following our appeals process.”
The next regularly scheduled Central Board quarterly meeting is slated for October 8th, 2026.
